New beginnings

It has been years since I’ve written a blog post. Life got in the way and I kind of got lost. I even lost my way to my sewing room for a few years.

I found the path back to my sewing room and I’ve actually gotten some old WIPs pulled out and reintroduced myself to what I was trying to make. Some of the UFOs I failed to put the pattern or any identifiable instructions in with the cut pieces so I’m forced to put them into my scrap stash.  I have dug around in my fabric stash and got myself reacquainted with what I own and that really ignited a fire to create. Now I want to go through my book and pattern stashes and see what I have and if I’m still interested in the flagged designs.

Since I blogged last my oldest son has married, so I want to make the happy couple a quilt. When asked what colors they liked I was told blue, green and grey. I was STUMPED. Blue and green I could see, but the grey threw me way off. So I shelved it while I did research. They have been married almost a year now and recently I saw a random YouTube video and can you believe the designer was making pineapple blocks with blue, green, grey  and white. I nearly fell off my chair. It was like a V-8 moment! I never thought about adding another color to the mix. Now I have 20+ blocks in various stages of pineapples. I think it’s going to be great!

My mom passed away 11 years ago and that was the major reason I lost my path to my sewing room. Now I’ve made at least one quilt for a sweet girl named Molly since then, but I’m not sure I’ve made completely any other. I’ve made a purse or two, fixed clothes, started or worked on paper piecing block as they take zero thinking, but not much else. I would go in, sort fabric, iron some, fold some, look at a book or two, but that was mostly it.  I don’t know what is different now but I have a desire to be back in there. I’ve cleaned (some) , moved, sorted and found things I forgot I owned. I hope this is a new beginning.

Here’s to new beginning!
